King Ash Bay July - August 17

Up early - Locked up house and shed – hooked up and on the road 0730hrs –Nev. and Marg came out cheerio, Kirby off to WORK!

Breakfast at Cowell – sunny but cold!!


Salt mound left behind when the industry collapsed.

Port Augusta 1235hrs refueled, Arid Lands for lunch – no tea required – 1335hrs back on the road to Lake Hart 549ks Avg. 81.4kph, 17.4LHK, 6.5hrs drive time.


Crashed early – got chilly during the night.
Pebbles - 14k's north Tenant Creek - we arrived early with only one other camper, it soon got crowded 
Cape Crawford - Heart Break Hotel - the bloke sitting on the veranda (just behind the right post) Is waiting for fuel for his Cat. D10 doing reclamation work on gravel pits - his machine had been drained of fuel = stolen!!

Our river bank site vacated a week ago, soft sand prevented access - great for us.

In fact it was 77 year old Barry keeping young. Just to prove the previous cast was not a fluke. Barry's been onsite 3 months and had not got his tinnie wet yet - to busy!

Delayed take off due to FOG! Till around 1030hrs
Finally clear skies - reported masses of fish at the estuary mouths 
Rubbish dump battery powered our GPS/Sounder and UHF Radio for the duration of our fishing excursions at KAB.

Pelican Rock at the mouth of the Carrington Channel - 1st time we have ventured out here.
